A message from Yury Krotov, Operations Manager for the Engineered Bar Products Division
 
Hello and welcome to Steel Dynamics’ Engineered Bar Products Division. Our state-of-the-industry facility is located at Pittsboro, Indiana, just west of Indianapolis.
 
Since we opened our doors in 2004, we’ve become one of America’s preeminent suppliers of special-bar-quality (SBQ) products. There are many reasons for our emergence in the SBQ marketplace, and while I have your attention, I’d like to share some of those reasons with you.
 
First and foremost, we make the finest products available on the market, bar none. Our products are engineered to meet—and often surpass—the most exacting metallurgical and processing standards set by each individual customer, all of whom require the highest-grade carbon and alloy steel bars. Our bars have to be excellent because they’re used to make a variety of products where precision counts. Among those products are engine parts, suspension systems, bulldozer tracks, oil-drilling equipment, home-appliance components, hand tools—even munitions casings.
 
Another reason for our success is our outstanding customer service. We provide on-time delivery and flexibility in scheduling, and we’re always looking for innovative ways to adapt to our customers’ changing needs.
 
And we know that many of our customers are looking for a cost-effective way to finish the products they buy from us. That’s why we have a large bar-finishing facility right here on our mill campus. That helps cut transportation costs.
 
To further establish ourselves as a one-stop shop, we recently began production on a new SMS-Meer precision sizing mill. We can now make smaller-diameter SBQ at the same time we make larger-diameter SBQ. That makes us even more responsive to our customers’ needs.
 
We’re now capable of producing one million tons of the highest-quality steel bars annually, but no amount of capital investments in new equipment and facilities would make our success possible without our cadre of topnotch employees. Regardless of their area of expertise, they’re simply the best in the business.
